John Desmarais to Speak at NYU Law's 'Proving IP' Symposium

Desmarais LLP partner John Desmarais will participate in New York University School of Law’s “Proving IP” Symposium this month. Desmarais, who graduated from NYU Law in 1988, will speak on a panel titled “Proving Damages” that will focus on how to most effectively calculate and apportion damages.During his career, Desmarais has secured billions of dollars in damages for clients, including a $1.5 billion win for Alcatel-Lucent against Microsoft, which remains one of the largest patent infringement jury verdicts. This past year, as lead trial counsel for Desmarais LLP, he secured an $82.5 million jury verdict for IBM against Groupon and negotiated a $400 million payout for Cisco Systems from Arista Networks to settle patent and antitrust litigation.
The “Proving IP” Symposium is scheduled for May 16-17 at the NYU School of Law campus in New York, and the “Proving Damages” panel will take place at 3:30 p.m. on May 16.
